My Australian Christmas Card Exhibition 2021 opens today

(15 Dec 2021) – The Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong is getting into the Christmas spirit with a display of Christmas cards designed by Hong Kong students who participated in the annual “My Australian Christmas Card Competition 2021”.

This year’s competition attracted around 2,200 artworks from 200 schools across the city.

“This is a  longstanding Christmas tradition for the Consulate, in fact it is our 10th year hosting the competition.  This competition provides an important opportunity to encourage students to creatively reimagine  the deep connections between Hong Kong and Australia," Australian Consul-General Ms Elizabeth Ward said.

Winning entries included the image of an Aussie Santa taking a junk boat ride through Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, designed by Sin Pik Yiu of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Mrs Wu York Yu Memorial College, Winner of the Senior Secondary School Category. Her design has also been selected as the Consul-General’s official festive greeting card.

“I would like to thank all the young artists and their teachers and parents for supporting this competition and making this exhibition such a success,” Ms Ward added.

The winners of the other three competition categories were: Li Pang Ching, of Alliance Primary School, Whampoa (Junior Primary School Category), Lam Man Yui of S.K.H. Yuen Chen Maun Chen Jubilee Primary School (Senior Primary School Category) and Tang Wing Ka of Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College (Junior Secondary School Category).

A prize giving ceremony is held this afternoon to recognise the winning artists’ creative excellence.

The winning card designs and other selected artworks are now available for public viewing at the Fringe Vault of the Hong Kong Fringe Club.

The exhibition will run from today to 30 December on Monday to Saturday from 11 am to 4pm. Admission is free.
