Voting in the 2025 Federal Election

The next Australian federal election will be held in the coming months. If you’re an Australian citizen overseas on the day of the election, you can still have your say by voting at on overseas voting centre or by postal vote.

In-Person Voting

You will be able to vote in-person at the Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong prior to the date of the election, and on election day. Dates, times, and locations will be posted here following the announcement of the election date.

Postal Voting

Alternatively, overseas voters can vote by post. Once the election date is announced, you can apply for a postal vote on the AEC website at aec.gov.au/pva. A postal vote pack will then be sent to you for completion.

Postal voters can mail their completed postal vote to the Australian Consulate-General Hong Kong or drop it off in person.

Mailing address: 23rd Floor, Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong

You can also return your vote directly to the AEC in Australia. The cost to return your postal vote by courier or mail to the Australian Consulate-General or to the AEC in Australia is your responsibility.

Further information

You must be enrolled to vote. You can enrol, check your details or update your details on the AEC website.

If you are unable to vote because you are overseas, you need to advise the AEC by completing an Overseas Notification Form.
