Experience the best of new Australian short films at Tai Kwun
(14 July 2022) Flickerfest 2022 Hong Kong – Best of Australian Shorts presents a selection of nine creative and beautifully-crafted Australian shorts from the Flickerfest 2022 program.
From cutting-edge animation to rom-com and First Nations storytelling, the program includes diverse and inspiring short films from across Australia, suitable for film-lovers of all ages.
Australian Consul-General Elizabeth Ward says Australians and Hongkongers share a deep appreciation for cinema, as a powerful medium for understanding and articulating who we are in the world.
“Australia is a creative, connected and innovative nation. The international renown of Australia’s film industry is testament to this.”
Since producing the world’s first feature film in 1906, Australia’s screen industry has grown into a centre for world-class talent, both on and off screen. Australia has always been internationally engaged in filmmaking and distribution and is at the forefront of the development and adoption of new technology – home to world-leading studios creating state-of-the-art visual effects.
Producing short films is how many talented Australian actors, directors, writers, producers and crew get their start and continue to experiment and push boundaries throughout their careers.
Flickerfest Festival Director, Bronwyn Kidd says “We are thrilled to share Flickerfest’s diverse, creative and uplifting Australian shorts program and hope that it encourages Australians and Hongkongers to connect through inspiring cinema and universal storytelling.”
