Certified copies of documents

Consular officers can provide certified copies of original Australian documents, or original documents to be used in Australia.

The Australian Consulate-General uses a stamp on our certified copies which states “This is a true copy of the document presented to me", followed by certifying officer's stamp with their names, title and the Consulate address.

Should you require alternative wording you might consider approaching a Justice of the Peace, Notary Public, or other specified professional, to perform the service for you.

If your documents were issued electronically, please bring an electronic copy on your phone or tablet.

We are unable to provide certified copies for visa and migration purposes.  Please refer to our Visas and migration page of our website for further information.

This service is available by Appointment only.  Please select Certifying a copy of a document on the booking page.  If you select the wrong service, we may not be able to help at your appointment time.

Certified Passport letter

The Australian Consulate-General can provide a statement confirming your name, current passport number and previous passport number(s).

Please bring your Australian passport to the appointment.

This service is available by Appointment only.  Please select Certified passport Letter on the booking page.  If you select the wrong service, we may not be able to help at your appointment time.

Authorising someone to certify your documents

Please note you should be present for the Consulate to certify your documents or to obtain a certified passport letter.  If you are unable to attend the Consulate in person, you must write an authorisation letter to authorise another person to have the documents certified on your behalf. Please provide a document to match your signature on the authorisation letter.
